On May 17, 2012, Jiahe was awarded the title of The Foundry Capital in South China by Confederation of Chinese Metalforming Industry. It marks Jiahe's foundry industry has entered a new development process. The history of the foundry industry has more than 200 years. In recent years, Jiahe has proposed to create the brand of The Foundry Capital in South China and established a special casting and machine tool equipment industrial park. The county allocates 13 million CNY of special funds to support the development of the foundry industry and attract a large number of large foundry enterprises such as Zhonghe, Hongde, Xiongjian, and Lei Shi to settle down. By the end of 2011, there were 38 large scale foundry enterprises in the county, with an annual output of 496,600 tons of casting products and a sales revenue of 3 billion CNY.
Jiahe County was established in 1639, covering an area of 699 square kilometers, governing 9 towns and 1 township, with a population of 420,000. It is one of the counties with the smallest area and the highest population density in the province.
